Yum Wash Pad v2 vs. Microfiber Madness Delipad XL vs. Rinseless Sponge
Alright, friends, it’s been a wild few weeks around here… between a flurry of details, the new job, and some curveballs with my health. (Still chugging along, don’t worry!) I’m behind on my product testing and even further behind on getting fresh content up on my YouTube channel. But tonight, I finally took some time to decompress, even with treatment starting tomorrow. My wife’s car is “down” (that’s another story for another day), but it’s still been gathering plenty of garage grime, so it was the perfect candidate for a rinseless wash and some side-by-side testing of new wash media.
If you follow me, you know I’ve tested a lot of wash media for rinseless washing (and have a video breakdown on my channel). My top recommendation for beginners and most DIYers has always been the rinseless wash sponge… There are just too many advantages, from cleaning power and safety to how easily they release dirt.
But… I may have found a new personal favorite tonight.
Does that mean I’m ditching the legacy sponge? Not quite. But this is the closest I’ve come to even considering it. Let’s break down what I tried and what I found.
Does that mean I’m ditching the legacy sponge? Not quite. But this is the closest I’ve come to even considering it. Let’s break down what I tried and what I found.
1. Microfiber Madness Delipad XL
This pad really impressed me. If you’re a fan of the classic soap-and-water wash, you’re going to love it. Size-wise, it’s just about perfect. As for softness? This pad is hands down the softest microfiber I have ever used—super plush, dense, just luxurious. It cleans beautifully during a contact wash and feels almost therapeutic to use.
But here’s the catch… when it comes to rinseless washes, microfiber has a notorious Achilles’ heel: dirt release. No matter how good it cleans, it simply doesn’t let go of grime as easily. You’ll need to work it well on a grit guard or something like the Autofiber Mitt Slide to make sure it’s actually clean between panels. Definitely manageable for seasoned folks, but probably not my first choice to hand a rinseless rookie.
Soap-and-water folks: this is your winner. 9.0/10
Rinseless crowd: still respectable, but a little more work. 8.0/10

2. Yum Wash Pad v2
This one kind of snuck up on me. First, the texture is different—Nick calls it a “Tri-Fiber blend.” It features high-end Korean microfiber along with a couple of other specialty fibers mixed in, which gives it a unique feel. It’s not the softest, but certainly not scratchy either… just a subtle texture that feels purposeful.
Here’s where it shines: cleaning power. It glides over the surface and lifts dirt in a single pass without any marring. As for dirt release? Honestly, it’s the closest I’ve seen to a rinseless sponge. Swish it in your solution, give it a little agitation, and poof—spotless. Plus, it’s white, so you can really see whether it’s clean or not.
One more advantage? The Yum Wash Pad v2 can fit into those tight nooks and crannies that sponges struggle with at times. It’s much thinner (about ½ the thickness of the Legacy sponge), aiding your technique. It’s thick enough to encourage less pressure, offering more control while not feeling as cumbersome.
It doesn’t absorb quite like the rinseless sponge (but performs better than a classic mitt), and that’s about it for downsides. If the rinseless sponge is a 10/10, this rates a solid 9.5–9.8/10 for me. After one use, I’m hooked. I’ll still recommend the rinseless sponge for most beginners… super safe and easy… but if you’re looking to branch out, or just don’t like a sponge, this one is a game changer.
3. The Classic Rinseless Sponge
Still, my recommendation for anyone new to rinseless washing. Safe, simple, exceptional at dirt release, and it simply works. No frills, no fuss, just fantastic results.
Bottom line?
All three are solid choices. Depending on your preferred style and experience, you may gravitate toward one over the others. But tonight’s wash will undoubtedly have me reaching for the Yum Wash Pad v2 more and more—it’s earned a spot in my regular rotation, for sure. And after a bit more time, it might even be my new Go-To wash media.
Have you tried any of these? Do you have a favorite I should add to the next showdown? Drop your thoughts below—I’m always learning something new from you all!
