Homeless- Not Having the Comforts of a Home that Belongs to You
Never take for granted the blessings of home and the comforts of a bed. Many people do and do not even realize what they take for granted in this world. Homeless is a statistic that is growing everyday. Some shelters accommodate the homeless and their families.
“I Found Myself…Homeless.”
I found myself homeless just this year. I had arranged to stay with a friend and that fell through when her Fiancés sister and her three young children ran from domestic abuse in Georgia to Florida to her brother’s home which happened to be where I had arranged prior to knowing their circumstances so I forfeited the coouch so that she and her children had somewhere to sleep.
“Being Homeless is Not About Being a Bag Lady…”
I was fortunate enough that another friend allowed me some time with her and her family so I camped out on her couch for a week, then left. In the meantime I had been diligently seeking work and a place to stay. I had no funds to get a room for a night let alone rent a apartment by the month. I was blessed to find work in a clerical position down by the beach, and my persistence in seeking shelter paid off. I found a shelter for the Homeless who had an opening and housed me.
Being Homeless is not so bad when you can find shelter and people who are supportive of you in your situation. Being Homeless is not about being a bag lady, or the man who is sleeping under the bridge. Its not just about standing in soup lines either. Being homeless can happen to anyone. The man who’s wife just tossed him out on the street because he was having an affair. A teen-ager who is rebellious and the parents cant deal with them any longer. The person who’s house just caught fire and all their worldly posession are gone. The people of Louisiana when Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005.
Being HOMELESS is simply not having the comforts of a home that belongs to you.
