A FAMILY HEIRLOOM
Excited about the fact that my oldest daughter is expecting her first child, I was eager to get started on crocheting a baby blanket for the welcomed occasion.
As soon as the sex was determined it was a boy I set my sights on going to the local Walmart to purchase my supply of yarns and a “G” size hook so I could begin the project.
Each night I sat in the family room persistantly working on my grandson’s baby blanket. I did not use a book pattern but one that I had learned and memorized that my own Mother had taught me when I was much younger.
When I finally finished my project I was very proud of the Mint Green and Off White blanket for I had done an excellent job. My daughter never even suspected I had been working on this project for her and her son. She was very pleased as well as surprised I had been able to complete a blanket in time for the babie’s arrival.
One day I hope that my daughter will have the desire to follow through with the learning of the crocheting and make a blanket heirloom for her grandchildren too.
